Mission Statement

In A Nutshell

This blog and TNF 13 is dedicated to discussing facts, research, issues, concerns, and topics in order to aid the prevention of child sexual abuse before it harms a child in the first place. This involves many arenas that are not well-known to the average person, and it is the mission of this blog to make these arenas well-known and reduce the challenges to the primary prevention of child sexual abuse. The focus is primarily on advocacy and making unknown facts and research known, and correcting the misinformation spread by the media. The end goal is ensuring that systems and policies are in place that prevent children from knowing the pain of child sexual abuse.

Advocacy First

This blog and TNF 13 are dedicated to advocacy. Awareness in communities, discussing facts, and aiming to educate take priority over political activism or protesting. While there are some behind-the-scenes initiatives to make a difference in the political and educational arenas, these initiatives are side projects, not the main focus.

Academics First

This blog and TNF 13 is first and foremost concerned with the facts, studies, and research around the prevention of child sexual abuse. You will never find an unsupported claim on this blog, unless its source is found in one of the resource lists on the right-hand side, or it is common knowledge in prevention circles. People are entitled to their own opinions, but not to their own facts. The focus will be on the arguments and statements, not an individual making those statements. You will not need to contact me, because this policy is absolute.

Accuracy First

This blog and TNF 13 is secondly concerned with being accurate, not only in the language used on this blog and in tweets, comments, or other communications, but in the graphics produced to advocate against child sexual abuse. The focus of TNF 13 will also be to correct language that spreads misinformation about child sexual abuse. If you believe you have found a sentence or phrase that does not adhere to this policy, please use the "Contact me" gadget on the right. Be specific.

Safety First

This blog and TNF 13 is devoted to creating a safe atmosphere to discuss the issues surrounding child sexual abuse. While the topics involved are emotional, the focus will be on an atmosphere conducive to having civilized, respectful discussions around how sexual abuse can be prevented. The focus will be on text and links, not media that can sometimes be upsetting, so that people can stop at any time they wish.

Critical Thinking First

This blog and TNF 13 is devoted to creating an atmosphere to generate not only discussions around the topic of preventing child sexual abuse, but also to creating an atmosphere where critical thinking is encouraged.
